whats the best circuit to play.
some say calif is "chalky"
KY or NY?
Hollywood will be starting soon. Some say its extremely tough, because of the tricky racing surface?????

PINNED,

I THINK EVERYONE HAS A SPECIFIC AREA THEY PLAY AT , I FOLLOW THE ILL. TRACKS WERE I KNOW MAZELTRICK WHO POST'S HERE ONLY POST'S CALF TRACKS AND DOES VERY WELL. SO I GUESS NOT SURE IF ONE AREA IS HARDER THAN THE OTHER, YOU JUST NEED LOCAL KNOWLEGE I BELIEVE........G.

i play all the so cal tracks and hollywood park is, by an order of magnitude, my least favorite of the three out here. i find that the fields are short and tons of races fail to fill.

Mazeltrick,

From what I have read, the morning lines are done by a so called local expert at each track. Some of these guys are a joke, they couldnt price up a bunch of bananas. The Gulfstream guy wouldnt last a day as a bookie but I found the Bay Meadows man fairly sharp. Do you have any views on this, especially the Cal tracks.

winbet,

the talent of the morning line makers varies considerably. i don't know their identity, but the guy at del mar is awful- i've seen so many horses at 20/1 on m/l bet down there. SA and Hollywood are pretty good, but it's particularly tough with the early 2 year old races that they're carding with regularity.

Bm guy is Richard Somers, does all the Northern Ca tracks including fairs. He explains what he does in the old book "A day at the races". He sometimes makes favs into longshots, 6-1 to 10-1 first day of fairs!
